On Darren’s blog, we constantly talk about how much Darren loves public transportation. It looks like Cameron shares the same love. Today we thought that he would nap in Michelle’s carrier but he didn’t. Instead he was enjoying his taxi and Peak Tram rides – probably as much as his big brother.
Katherine and Eugene invited us to have dinner at Clearwater Bay Country and Golf Club. We arrived in late afternoon so that the kids could play together for a while. When we arrived, we were waiting at the outdoor cafe for the hosts to arrive. The light was just perfect on Cameron’s happy face and I took this picture:
Everyone ended up having a good time at the club. Darren was trying his hand at tennis while Cameron was happy cuddling with Michelle and watching big kids play around him. By the time dinner was done (which was only 7 p.m.), everyone was already exhausted. Cameron fell asleep in the car while Darren fell asleep immediately after we put him down in his bed.
Today we took the kids to The American Club to play. The club has a playroom with a large climbing structure. Darren was going crazy running, climbing, falling, and laughing while Cameron and Jayden were being comparatively mellow in the Arts and Crafts area. After everyone exhausted themselves, we finally got a chance to snap a shot of all three cousins together.
In Hong Kong many people join private clubs to get exclusive access to sports and dining facilities. The most desired is a membership to the Jockey Club because it allows members to attend and bet on horse races. We are very lucky to have Grandma as a member. The food plaza there is great for kids – tons of tasty choices (Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Indian…), plenty of high chairs, fairly noisy to help drown out the kids’ screams.
Cameron is still on mushy baby food and can’t enjoy the cuisines from around the world. However, he is still having fun at the food plaza playing “take and give (or not)” with me.
Darren loves public transportation and we decided to make it an adventure for the kids. We took the ferry from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central and then returned to the Kowloon side on the subway/MTR. Darren loved every minute of it as expected. I am surprised to see that Cameron was also fascinated by the crowd and the surroundings. I could tell that he was taking everything in even at his young age. I can’t wait for him to start talking so that he can tell me what he thinks.
It has been a while since Cameron saw Grandma. This time instead of Grandma coming to visit Cameron, Cameron took the 16-hour flight to visit Grandma. Cameron is slow to get over the jetlag but he is getting accustomed to the new time. We are lucky that Darren adjusted immediately. He woke up once on the first night and slept through the night on the second. Otherwise we would be even more tired by now. We hope that the kids will spend some quality with Grandma and their cousins. Making this trans-Pacific trip certainly ain’t easy for the kids and their parents. 🙂
