First tooth

We’ve been saying Cameron’s teething for a while now because he loves to suck on anything and everything. Well, finally, two days ago, while Cameron and I were waiting at his doctor’s appointment, I spotted a little bit of white on his gum! I tried to get Cameron to open his mouth for us tonight by enticing him with a sippy cup like we did with Darren back when his first pearly white made its appearance. I thought it’d be a piece of cake since Cameron would put anything into his mouth, but he didn’t open his mouth the “right” way, so I finally had to hold his lip down. Right after the picture though, Cameron grabbed the sippy cup and started sucking it! I’m guessing it’d be an easy transition from bottle to sippy cup for this little guy!

Blowing raspberries

Cameron loves blowing raspberries. He blew his first raspberry on July 16th–3 days before his 7-month birthday! Yes I try to document his milestones on Bobohelper, like he first played with his feet on June 21st–2 days after he turned 6 months…OK I’ll come clean–I really only tracked 2 milestones for Cameron so far–it’s harder with #2! ๐Ÿ™ But I swear I love him just as much! ๐Ÿ™‚

In it together

Michelle took Cameron to the pool again today when Darren was napping. When Darren got up, I took him to the pool. He jumped in and we snapped this picture of the two brothers in the water together. If both kids grow up to be good, competitive swimmers (one can hope), this picture may turn out to be something special as this was the first time the brothers were in a pool together. If not, it’s still a cute picture of the boys. ๐Ÿ™‚

Heavenly baby

Here in Kauai we’re staying at a Westin which is famous for its heavenly beds. Even the cribs we have for Cameron and Darren are called heavenly cribs! While waiting for Darren to wake up from his nap to go swimming, I put Cameron in our big bed for some ้šไป”็›ธ (“pretty boy” pictures in Cantonese.) Cameron’s very comfortable in the big bed because on this trip he’s slept in it with me a few times. I’d only brought Cameron to bed with me once before this trip. I used to do it all the time when Darren was a baby. But with Cameron, I’ve been more disciplined plus I don’t have time to nap. While on vacation though, to deal with the Hawaii time change, I bring Cameron to bed when he wakes in the middle of the night and I nap with him in the afternoon when we’re both beat from the morning activities. It’s heavenly indeed to cuddle up with my baby!

First Hike

Today the entire family did the first part of the famous Kalalau Trail. The trail starts with a steep ascent on rocky terrain. We hiked almost entirely uphill for more than one hour before turning back. The entire trip lasted nearly two hours with a minor accident which resulted in a twisted ankle on Vincent and a bump on Darren’s head.

Cameron made the right choice of being carried by Michelle the entire way. He actually felt so comfortable that he slept almost the whole time. It’s too bad that he didn’t get to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Kauai. I guess we have to bring him back again. Maybe he can do his own walking next time.

First Dip

There are many firsts for little Cameron. Today he took his first dip in the pool. When big brother Darren was napping, Michelle took Cameron to the hotel swimming pool and cruised around with him. Cameron was a little confused in the beginning and cried for a little bit. But as soon as he figured out the flow of things, he calmed down and enjoyed the ride. He even started to nod off on his float at the end! We’re hoping that he would take to the waters as well as Darren. The first sign has been promising.

First trip

Cameron took his first flight to Kauai. It was a direct flight and it took five hours and four minutes. He was a huge hit on the plane as he charmed everyone around him from flight attendants to fellow travelers. I was horrified by the thought of flying with two kids but both did well on our flight over to paradise.

After we landed, we went to St. Regis for lunch. The lunch spot was famous for its expansive view but not its food. The service was lacking too. Good thing that Cameron brought his own food and personal assistant. He ended up having a great lunch. What a way to kick off his first trip!

Mr. Smiley

This is actually a picture from almost 7 weeks ago at Cameron’s 6-month well visit. I took this picture of Cameron and Vincent with my iPhone, but didn’t post it because Vincent’s eyes were half-closed. I kept the picture though because Cameron has such a sweet smile. ๐Ÿ™‚ I came across this picture today after taking pictures of Cameron at Gymboree. Since we don’t have nearly as many pictures of Cameron as we’d like, I just asked Vincent to crop himself out and upload it.

Cameron is really a happy baby—we’re so lucky since sometimes Darren seems to take up all of our time and Cameron would just hang out while we try to get Darren under control. That said, this smiley picture reminds me of a picture that Vincent took of Darren when he also was a happy baby—keyword “baby” (i.e., pre-running around wild!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Love the Gymbo chair!

I’ve been taking Cameron to Gymboree classes since June before he turned 6 months. Here’s where being the younger sibling has an advantage—Darren didn’t start going until he was 11 months old and he still loved going until he turned 3 recently, so with Cameron, I started much sooner!

Even though we moved out of the city, all but once I’ve taken Cameron to the Gymboree in San Francisco because their class times work better with Cameron’s nap schedule. The first time I walked into the Gymboree, amazingly, the staff there all recognized me and greeted me as “Darren’s mom” excitedly and were eager to meet the new little guy! I couldn’t believe it—there must be tons of children going through this Gymboree and Darren stopped going a year ago after we moved and started going to the Gymboree closer to our new house—but somehow they remember Darren! I wonder if he’s especially naughty, bright, or cute! ๐Ÿ˜›

Anyway, today I spotted the Gymbo chair, which was Darren’s favorite—he would drag it around the room and rock in it. Since Cameron has been sitting increasingly well these days, I put him in it and he loved the chair too! We were a bit early for class and Cameron just sat in it and chilled out until class started!
