Nikki and Richard brought a feast to us tonight! What a treat! This isn’t the first time they’re meeting Cameron though—we just didn’t catch a good picture of him last time, so we didn’t post it. 😛 But this time as we were trying our luck again, I remembered there was a picture of Nikki and Richard holding Darren when his hair looked very much like how Cameron’s is now. (We didn’t shave Darren though for fear of hurting him—and then I realized it’s safe after seeing our friend Michael shave his baby.) Some people think Cameron and Darren look alike—what do you say with a “then and now” comparison?
Our friends Melanie and Andrey came for dinner tonight. They actually met Cameron very early on—while he was still in the hospital! Melanie especially was a lifesaver because she came the morning before Cameron and I checked out of the hospital, so she helped me with Cameron while I was changing and packing. Cameron looks a little startled here, but I know he actually wants to echo my thanks to Auntie Melanie! 🙂
I tried playing peekaboo once with Cameron, but I’m not nearly as good as my brother is. Cameron loves it when my brother plays this game with him! My brother and sister-in-law seem to be peekaboo pros as Darren played this with her too back when he was a baby.
My brother Alwin stopped by for a 2-day visit on his way home to Hong Kong from the east coast on a business trip. This is the first time he’s seen his nephew Cameron. My brother who has a 1-year-old boy proves he’s a charmer with babies and kids—both Cameron and Darren love their uncle! Incidentally, my brother also visited Darren for the first time when he was 5 months old. I’m not as good an aunt to my nephew unfortunately—I have yet to meet him—so ashamed! I’ll have to make a trip to Hong Kong happen soon!
Right after rolling over, I gave Cameron a look in the mirror. I read recently that babies his age enjoy looking at their own reflection. Sure enough, he loves it! In fact, I only realized after I put down the camera that he was drooling over himself! 😉
The injustice of being #2! Cameron actually rolled over a LONG time ago—I wanna say when he was a little over a month old, definitely well before he turned 2 months. It’s hard for me to catch him in action though because in general I’m with Darren. When I get to Cameron, it’s usually when he’s hungry and needs nursing, so no tummy time before or after a feed of course. Finally today, very belatedly, I caught him not hungry, not full, and not sleepy! So I put him on his playmat and voilà !
Cameron’s hair hasn’t been growing very well. There is an old wives’ tale saying that if you shave the baby’s hair, the hair will return fuller and thicker. Well, I am not against shaven heads. As a matter of fact, I think they are good-looking and practical. When Michelle mentioned the idea, I fully supported it. Michelle immediately drafted our good friend Michael who is an old hand in shaving his boys to do the honor.
Cameron turned out to be very well-behaved during the whole process. He complained a little bit when we turned him away from the crowd so he couldn’t see anyone. But as soon as we turned him back to his audience, he calmed down again. The video below captured the event in its entirety (which was about three minutes) but it has been sped up eight times. Michael is quick but not that quick.
…oh wait—it’s not a doll—it’s Cameron! 😉 This is Darren’s crib. Yes he has a lot to keep him company in bed. When he woke up from his nap today, I surprised him by going into his room with Cameron. Darren was so happy to see him! Darren has been so loving and gentle with Cameron all along that I thought I’d let him have some cuddly time with little brother in his crib. Oh my two babies!
Vincent’s uncle and auntie came to visit today. It’s the first time they met Cameron and we decided to take some pictures in the backyard. Even though it’s springtime, it can be a little windy. That’s why Michelle and Cameron are bundled up. However, you can be assured that this is not the result of Photoshop. 🙂
